I find it interesting that black & grey were not very popular choices. I personally LOVE black with bold pops of color on it and even with "feminine" color pairing's it can still seem gender neutral. What I also find interesting is that script fonts are currently more equated with femininity however, in my personal experience, I've seen beautiful cursive writing from men more often than women.

I have seen that too Minnie. I think of some of the best hand letters out there, like will Patterson for example. I also was surprised about gray too. Obviously gray has had a moment in terms of interior design over the last 10 years and surprised that did not reflect in the survey. I would be curious to hold own survey amount readers/students.

I really enjoyed this article. I just like colors and fonts and pondering them. At this time my news and graphics are ‘just me’ and if I feel them, you will feel them too, kind of motivation. Like me and follow me or don’t. I’m not into numbers at the moment. But if I ever begin to design to sell these things would be important.

This was an amazing article. This is why I'm attracted to graphic design, the psychology of design is very intriguing. Thanks for sharing your tutelage, greatly appreciated. My favorite is the Roister's design, that's exclusive.

Sidebar: [I didn't want to inbox you and be weird, but I think if you used the "find and replace" function, it changed some of the "view project here" links to "few project here," in the article. Minor fix for a fantastic article.]

Thank you Paul! Also, thank you for pointing out that editing error. I went ahead and corrected that issue. My editor must have missed it! I cannot fire him because he is my husband :) I am so glad you enjoyed the article. I found researching it really fascinating and learned so much by studying further the history of typography styles.

No problem. And that's why it's taking me a while to work through your course material. I'm focusing on learning how to research for design projects. I'm concentrating on the pre-design process: sketching, thumbnails, comps, and qualitative research. Again, your tutelage is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to your editor (Hubby) for his work as well; you make elaborate and well-articulated content.

Glad you found it interesting. I learned a lot of design history I did not know by studying this topic. The history of typography is really interesting and I might buy a few more books on the matter to read and further my knowledge.
