This question has been plaguing me for a while as I am delving into the freelance world for the first time in a decade. So much has changed since I last freelanced before temporarily switching careers - thank you for providing such a detailed article that helps me restructure and organize my plan of action in building a portfolio based on what the latest trends and applications are.

I'm excited for more! ❤️ One thing that I have had a lot of trouble finding and I feel would make me a much better designer is to find videos, youtube tutorials, courses, literally anything, etc. that traces the steps of recreating iconic logos (Apple, McDonalds, Google, Tesla, Twitter, IBM, and so on). In other words - videos of how THIS or THAT logo was created. I would honestly even pay for a course on just straight practice of recreating logos over and over again. I say this because the skill that is missing most for me as a designer is knowing how to translate my ideas along with the many ways & styles in which I can translate them. If I could just follow steps over and over to recreate great logos using the golden ration, grids, gradients, etc., I believe would develop muscle memory in applying those same techniques to my own concepts when ready. Instead, I find that I have these great ideas and then I stare at my computer screen, not knowing the best way to create a logo or even how to start. I don't know how to translate my concepts digitally and I think that's because I am lacking experience in both using the most appropriate tools in Ai to get the right shapes and proportions as well as being able to just pull techniques from my back pocket that would work with my next logo. If you're focus is just articles at the moment, even breaking down different logos based on categories/style with a synopsis of how they were created would be wonderful.

That would be an enjoyable class to make. I do have a resource that is part of my logo design mastery class that talks a lot about popular logo/brand marks. I do not break down how to design each one but talk about the important aspects of them. I thought about taking that resource and creating an article here on substack with a lot that info. In fact, that might be an idea of what I do next after I release the one I am working on now (about client situations). Thank you for the great suggestion!
